[Jenkins-infra] Inquiries about build/test automation with Jenkins

Hi, 
I am writing some code that needs to be compiled and was looking into build/test automation systems. One question I have about Jenkins is how it will handle compiling multiple pieces of code on different development environments. For example, my pieces of code are on Visual studio, Maven, NPM and Makefile. How would Jenkins handle this task of compiling all of these individual pieces of code and how they would be put built together to then be tested.
